The principle behind the Big HVLS Fan is to move a large amount of air by using large-diameter fan blades rotating at a low speed to break up the stratified air layer. The low speed of the fan makes it more efficient to convert electrical energy into useful laminar flow, rather than generating wasteful turbulence and resistance at higher speeds-which ultimately only generates unwanted heat. These large blades move more air than smaller fans, usually 5-20 times, and have the same cooling effect. No other cooling system can be as energy-efficient as a system using Big HVLS Fans. In fact, research shows that companies can reduce or even completely eliminate the use of expensive air conditioning systems through optimized Big HVLS Fan solutions. Some Big HVLS Fan vendors provide 3D thermodynamic models of customer rooms, which proves the effectiveness of Big HVLS Fans as a cost-effective air cooling system.
